Ford Cortina at BCA
BCA is to amaze car auction goers next week when it auctions off a classic Ford Cortina at Blackbushe.
The car is a real star too, as it is the one off the BBC Culture Show TV programme.
It’s starring as part of the Lex Autolease sale to be held on Monday. BCA tells us it’s a rare Mk3 2000GT – a 1976 R-plate, it is one of the last Mk3s built.
The classic Ford has had an action-packed few years. As part of the Culture Show team, it’s visited famous film locations such as Trainspotting, The Wicker Man, Brief Encounter, The Full Monty and 28 Days Later.
That helped take the mileage up to a still-reasonable 86,200 miles. Car Dealer Magazine is sure there will be ex-fleet Ford Mondeos showing more than that going through the car auction.
It’s had a rebuild, respray and mechanical refresh, but the team has wisely kept the original features. As car spotters know, these GT models included high-backed GT-style seats and, yes a walnut effect dash.
We cannot wait to see how much PLO 80 R makes at the car auction on Monday!

hate to be an anorac, but I worked for Ford at the time and had a white 2000E
from memory GT 2000 had 4 headlights, the 2000E had oval lamps

E or gt? not sure but we have purchased this car online at bca and its just been delivered (18/2/2010). It needs a bit of work so whilst the black with blue stripe is relevant to its bbc history we are thinking of striping back to metal and painting in its original silver color code. any opinions on this would be welcome?? we will update our website with a project page so you can see its progress - http://www.autolesiure.net
