250406-a-for.jpgECONOMIC worries may lead to a slowdown in new car sales, warns Ford of Britain chairman Roelant de Waard.

People are also looking for more environmentally-friendly cars, said de Waard at the opening of a new Ford dealership in the West Midlands.

Local newspaper the Express & Star reported that de Waard spoke of ‘a concern in the market about demand and that we might see a slowdown in car sales. Customers are also reassessing what they buy.’

He was visiting T Wall Garages in Pensnett – which has just become one of only two Ford dealers in the UK to sell blue oval models alongside Vauxhalls.

de Waard wasn’t fazed by the collaboration. ‘While we have a great number of dealers in large cities, we felt we needed more dealers in smaller towns to represent Ford. We looked for the best dealers, and T Wall came out as one of the fastest-growing and most impressive up and coming dealers.’
