Five decades at dealer

Time 7:35 pm, November 8, 2008

LONG-SERVING technician Malcolm Clements is retiring – after 51 years maintaining cars from the same Hendon site!

The 66 year old is retiring from Alan Day Honda, after joining the Edgware Road site in 1957.

He came straight from school back then; after five decades in the business, the senior technician is retiring to a long-earned rest in Spain.

‘Cars today still do the same job transporting people around, and they’ve changed very little in principle over the years,’ he said.

‘The main difference is they’ve become much more reliable and much more complicated!’

Andy Potter, aftersales director at Alan Day Honda, added: ‘Malcolm has been part of the fixtures and fittings at Hendon. He has been an example to us all in his knowledge and skill, repairing most of the Honda cars driving around in North London at some time or other!

‘He will be greatly missed and we wish him well in his retirement.’
