Drop tops drop 10 percent
VALUES of used convertibles have plummeted by an average of 10 percent in the past 2 months.
Autoquake.com says the usual winter decline is bigger than expected this year.
The firm’s founder Fredrik Skantze is thus priming car buyers to take advantage of bargains, by promoting the value-saving idea of buying a convertible in winter.
‘Smart buyers can take advantage of this seasonal trend to buy a car for hundreds of pounds less than they might pay in spring or summer.’
He highlights some particular falls that car dealers should keep an eye on:
• Audi convertibles down 10.7 percent
• Peugeot convertibles down 11.5 percent
• Renault convertibles down 15.1 percent
Besides, it’s a myth that the winter is particularly miserable for convertible owners. ‘There are 15 wet days in December. That’s just 3 more than in July.’
Prices will stabilise in early January, he added. ‘They will pick up in the spring – so now is the time to buy a bargain.’
