Dirty car drivers risk RVs
July 22nd, 2010 by Richard Aucock
HALF of Britain’s car drivers admit they don’t wash their car for 6 months or more in a surprise new survey.
This is leaving the trade-in value of their cars at risk as car dealers mark down prices because of damage.
Autoquake carried out the survey – which also showed that while 56 percent of women leave their car for half a year or more before cleaning it, 44 percent of men say they leave it for over 6 months too.
4 percent never clean it at all!
‘A bad idea,’ said CEO Dermot Halpin.
‘Nasty deposits like birdlime can damage a car’s paintwork, while salted roads in winter can corrode alloy wheels.
‘This kind of cosmetic damage can hurt the value of your car when you come to sell it on.’
Given the impact on future values, said Halpin, it’s a surprise so few bother to clean their cars. Which got us thinking here at Car Dealer Magazine – have you seen evidence of such uncaring attitudes in your car dealer?
Do you regularly price PX cars down because of such damage?
