Corsa earns its stripes
August 18th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
VAUXHALL has introduced a go-faster stripe styling kit for franchised dealers, to help drive aftersales.
The 3dr Corsa VXR-style racing stripes stretch the entire central length of the car, and cost £150.
That’s a fully-fitted price too, said a spokesman. So how are car dealers going to make any money from it? Thanks, they said, to an all-inclusive step-by-step fitting kit.
Acknowledging that such a delicate, labour-intensive job could take some time, the firm has been careful to ensure instructions are detailed enough to ensure non-specialist technicians can apply the stripes.
It’s a wet-type application, which needs no further preparation other than a clean, wax-free car.
The retailer will thus give the customer’s car an outside valet as part of the fitting.
Vauxhall hopes the special stripes incentive will help push sales of other VXR accessories too – such as the £290 rear spoiler or £369 alloy set. There is even a full-on VXR styling pack; supplied, and fitted, for £1399…
