£23k Citroen DS3 Racing
August 25th, 2010 by Richard Aucock
CITROEN car dealers are preparing for a flurry of interest following confirmed prices for the DS3 Racing.
The MINI Cooper S rival will cost £23,100 when it goes on sale next month.
UK stocks are, however, limited to just 200 cars!
The idea is to provide a production car base for next year’s Citroen DS3 WRC rally car. As such, a lot of bespoke engineering has gone into the DS3 Racing.
This has extended to carbon fibre front bumper, rear diffuser and wheelarch extensions. It all hides overhauled suspension that includes a 30mm wider track and 15mm lower ride height. Citroen has even fitted specific front and rear dampers, just like Renault did on the Renaultsport Clio Trophy.
Heavens, there’s also a set of 4-pot brakes! They slow down a 207bhp 1.6-litre turbo, that’s good for 62mph in 6.5 seconds, and 146mph.
Intended to big up the maker’s WRC rallying connection, Citroen Racing logos are splashed over the doors and sports seats. This means Citroen is finally promoting a motorsport link it has for far too long neglected.
At last, car dealers may get some reward from the firm’s WRC spend.
The DS3 Racing’s price includes VAT set at the new 20 percent rate, as first deliveries are expected to commence early in 2011.
They’re probably going to go fast, warns Citroen. There have already been more than 1500 enquiries through the Citroen UK website alone…
