Car makers’ April Fools!
April 2nd, 2010 by Richard Aucock
HYUNDAI and SEAT continue to showcase new ideas for car buyers with groundbreaking new developments.
Innovative Hyundai has introduced a cherished car disposal service for sentimental car owners.
Using special ‘Garages of Rest’, the new offer humanely dismantles cars, or bury them in special beauty spots and public parks around the UK.
The full burial service conveniently costs £2000, buy Hyundai also offers cheaper options – the firm will sentimentally crush a car into a cube, and then bury it. This costs £1500.
Hyundai’s cheapest option is to take a component of the condemned car and bury it in the firm’s ‘car park of remembrance’. Official suggest most will choose the car’s number plate; by partially burying it, they will also save on a memorial plaque.
As yet though, we are unable to confirm when the service will be introduced.
In other news, SEAT development engineers have also been busy, fitting a special 545-litre fuel tank to a new Leon Ecomotive.
This, combined with the car’s combined fuel economy of 83.1mpg, gives a range of 10,000 miles between fill-ups.
It is expected to be offered alongside an inclusive service and maintenance plan. This will mean SEAT dealers will be able to offer genuine ‘no maintenance cars’.
Indeed, the car is not fitted with a conventional fuel filler flap or cap. Diesel is instead refilled via a special nozzle in the boot. However, SEAT says this will bring an extra step to the service routine for SEAT dealers – refuelling will take place as a matter of course during the service.
‘Dealers are set to offer handy fuel payment plans alongside the existing fixed price service plans,’ said a spokesman.
‘We expect the first drivers will be tickled pink when the car goes on sale here.’
Car Dealer Magazine looks forward to reading about other car maker innovations this morning.
