Twitter sales duel

Time 4:30 pm, June 5, 2011

twitter-success-for-emDEALER bosses Daksh Gupta and Robert Forrester are competing for car sales in a duel organised on Twitter.

The chief executives of Marshall Motor Group and Vertu Motors respectively set the challenge yesterday between two of their sites – and the fight has been raging ever since.

Marshall’s Honda site in York is going head to head with Vertu’s Honda showroom in Grantham this weekend with both sales teams egged on by their chief executives on the social networking site.

Gupta and Forrester have been posting countless tweets as to which site is front – and it’s made for very entertaining reading.

One tweet from Forrester said: ‘Just agreed with Daksh at Marshalls – today’s duel Marshalls York Honda v Vertu Honda Grantham. Most sales wins including bikes! #honda.’

Battle was fierce yesterday with both bosses ‘scoring’ sales and posting their success online. At the end of play on Saturday Grantham were up 4.5 sales (we think they mean one bike) against York’s three.

The camaraderie between the two bosses is well worth a follow – if only so you can find out who’s won! Follow Marshall’s Gupta here and Vertu’s Forrester here.

And it looks like next weekend could be even more interesting… Darren Williams, boss of Hodgson Limited, waded into battle yesterday putting up his Seat site for a three-way fight next weekend. Bring it on!

Maybe we could set up a leader board…
