Buyers want scrappage
April 3rd, 2010 by Richard Aucock
SCRAPPAGE should be continued reckon nearly 2 in 3 Brit new car buyers in a recent survey.
Carmony.co.uk said that well over 70 percent of Brits liked the scheme and understood how it worked.
Furthermore, over half reckoned it had the desired effect and had encouraged people to buy a new car during the recession.
However, fewer than 10 percent had actually taken advantage of it. Hence the desire to extend the scheme.
‘It’s interesting to see just how popular the scrappage scheme appears to have been with the car buying public, said Carmony.co.uk MD Alan Hazelhurst.
‘Although consumers would like the scrappage scheme to continue, now that it’s finished, it’s likely that many will still be looking to replace their car with a newer vehicle.’
This will lead, he expects, to an increase in searches for nearly-new cars on the site.
Do you expect to see a similar rise in nearly-new interest at your car dealer?
