Buyers want Beemers
August 19th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
BMW is the UK’s most clamoured-for used car, says online used car retailer autoquake.com.
Such popularity, coupled with heady demand for used car stock, has pushed BMW to the top of autoquake.com’s popularity listings.
The company has a special section on its website, which allows buyers to show an interest in cars that have already been reserved.
Called ‘second chance’, it’s the BMW 318i that gets the most requests should particular cars come back on sale.
But autoquake.com points to another section which shows demand for BMWs is hot – the ‘coming soon’ area, which allows buyers to set up email alerts for cars shortly coming in stock.
Topping this list was, you guessed it, a BMW. A 118d M Sport clocked a 145-person queue of buyers interested in buying it, before it was even on sale.
Vauxhall had plenty to be proud of, too – it came second, again in both lists. Further proof that it’s not just premium motors that are in demand came from Mazda scoring third in both, too.
These firms’ popularity is being reinforced by the severe national shortage of good used cars at the moment, says autoquake.com founder Fredrik Skantze.
‘It’s no wonder buyers are queuing up to buy the most popular models…’
