Buyers’ £500k haul
July 27th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
CAR buyers at Motorpoint are using an online ‘checkout’ tool to reserve £500k of cars every month.
The facility allows buyers across the country to secure cars online with a credit card.
They then compete the balance of the transaction over the telephone.
It’s been in place since spring 2007 – since which, 2000 people have used it.
Indeed, Motorpoint is currently now selling over £500,000 worth of cars through its dedicated online reservation facility every month.
Unconvinced about the merits of adding such a tool yourself? Listen to Motorpoint carnbuyer Nicola Anderson.
‘We knew the car we wanted and kept checking the website on a regular basis until it became available,’ she said.
‘As soon as it appeared on the screen, we reserved it, and collected it later that week, saving ourselves several thousand pounds off the list price.
‘It was that simple.’
Think of how many purchasers you could tempt – securing car buyers nationwide, too. Motorpoint’s general manager John Baird certainly has.
The online tool, he says, allows people ‘to take advantage of the huge savings on offer at Motorpoint, wherever and whenever they want.’
