Audi A1 interactive
June 2nd, 2010 by Richard Aucock
AUDI has launched a new ‘virtual reality’ tool that shows off the MINI-rivaling A1 hatchback in 3D.
This will be available on the firm’s website – and car dealers are being given added virtual A1 promotional tools, too.
Audi Centres countrywide are taking delivery of special ‘Augmented Reality’ kiosks. These use a webcam to display miniature 3D A1s in photo quality.
It brings Minority Report technology into Audi dealers!
What’s more, by downloading special software from the Audi website and printing out a ‘MagicSymbol’ the same special effects can be replicated at home on webcam-equipped computers, too.
What can you do with this ‘3D A1’? Well, users can rotate the car, expand or contract it, roll it forwards and backwards and pan right into the interior by simply moving the magic symbol pad in relation to the web cam.
Audi hopes ‘it will enable customers to get a real ‘feel’ for the A1.’
Car Dealer Magazine looks forward to seeing how customers and dealers respond to this new technology. Could it be the first application of a big new area for customer interaction?

Innovative idea that will allow Audi to exploit and gain following in a key age range/market. Car buying is certainly trying to get more digital and interactive. Nice.

Yes, looks good, interacting with the brand and absorbing the brand values will certainly lead to sales…great innovation.
