ALFA Romeo will launch an all-new premium hatch rival to the Audi A3 at the Geneva Motor Show next March.
It will arrive in UK Alfa Romeo car dealers soon after – giving them a key entrant ‘in one of Europe’s most important segments’.
The new motor uses a fresh platform that has a further application of Alfa’s now-acknowledged ‘DNA’ system. This sets the car up in one of 3 modes – Dynamic, Normal and All Weather.
It adjusts all aspects, including the steering, accelerator, stability control parameters and Q2 electronic differential settings. Impressively, the Q2 unit, which improves front-end traction and turn-in, is standard on all models.
Taking lots from the Alfa Romeo 8c Competezione supercar, the looks are modern and include hip LED daytime running lights. There are coupe-shape side windows and hidden rear handles for the 5dr car’s back doors.
More LED lighting is used at the taut rear end, which conceals a 350 litre boot.
What engines will be available for the front-drive model? Alfa’s released full details, and announced that all will be equipped with fuel-saving stop-start:

• 1.4 TB MultiAir 170
• 1750TBi 235
• 1.6 JTDM 105
• 2.0 JTDM 170
The all-turbo line-up should ensure the Giulietta goes as well as it looks. It even sounds sexy, with a name that harks back to 1950s classics.

This new Alfa Romeo Giulietta model is going to really up the bar in this car class or create its own segment. Not unusual for Alfa is the beautiful lines, everything is just right. Lets keep our fingers crossed for a long overdue U.S. re-entry.
