AA roadside dealer tools

AA Patrols are to boost their roadside repair success rate thanks to a new data provision initiative.
Patrols are now able to get technical and diagnostic information from Autodata.
This is the same diagnostic data normally used within the professional workshop environment, and means the AA will be able to complete many more repairs on the move, without having to call upon car dealers and garages.
The data feed includes service adjustments to ECUs, and details on battery replacement procedures (often a complicated procedure in itself with modern electronics systems).
Autodata MD Tony Swiatek said: ‘When faced with a breakdown, the AA patrol will have all the information he’s ever likely to need, just like all the independent and franchised dealerships we supply.’
AA man Chris Bailey added: ‘The range of technical information now available to them, presented in a consistent style across the various cars they have to work on, helps them to quickly diagnose faults and improve repairs, helping our members to quickly continue their journeys.’
Even so, it is an interesting development that could possibly affect aftersales business for car dealers.
Do you think the AA’s move will affect your car dealer or garage?
