£6k Micra a steal
May 15th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
NISSAN has confirmed it’s extending the Government’s 10-year scrappage allowance back by 2 years…
… so long as the car is produced in the UK, that is.
It means that any new Nissan Micra, Note or Qashqai comes with a £2k allowance for owners of 8 year old cars or older.
Key deal will be the £5995 Micra, which Nissan car dealers report is already attracting strong interest. Indeed, the Sunderland car factory has actually taken on 150 extra staff, to cater for this increase in demand.
To this total of 3900 employees, Nissan points out the boost to its 5000-plus employees in the UK car dealer network, too.
As Nissan’s UK MD, Paul Willcox, said, ‘one aim of the Government’s scrappage scheme is to get greener vehicles onto our roads in place of older, less safe and more polluting cars.
‘Nissan’s offers not only help to achieve this goal, but in extending the £2000 minimum trade-in against our British built range to include 8-10 year old cars, Nissan has given the UK manufacturing industry a much-needed boost.’
Car buyers will have to act fast, though. The 8-10 year old incentive is a limited offer that is only in place until 30 June 2009.
