£500k boost for dealer
September 18th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
PERRYS Portsmouth has just invested HALF A MILLION pounds into its booming new and used car sales centres.
The Fiat, Mazda and Peugeot car dealers have also had to take on three extra managers to cope with demand.
Opening this week is a completely updated used car centre. There’s also a 16-bay all-makes service centre, which does MOTs, too – and has a posh new customer waiting area.
It’s the Peugeot division that’s taken on the new senior management staff. New men include:
• Steve Staunton – new car business manager
• Robert Dudman – new car general sales manager
• Steve Talbot – parts manager
Staunton is a bit of a whizz when it comes to getting credit for customers. Perrrys, he says, is ripe for development: ‘Portsmouth is a fantastic dealership, which has not been fully developed.
‘It’s become apparent, even in the short time I’ve been here, that we are only just starting to skim the potential in terms of achieving sales volumes.’
Dudman, meanwhile, is looking beyond scrappage to boost Perrys. ‘I want Perrys to be in a strong position for when it finishes.
‘So, we are focusing on existing and lapsed customers, and encouraging retail part exchanges in order to bring used cars in for the used car site.’
Good news indeed from the UK’s 15th largest car dealer group.
