4×4 demand continues

MANHEIM reports 4x4s remain popular at car auctions after a recent auction realised 100 percent conversion.
Not only that, the dedicated 4×4 sale at Manheim Rotherham also averaged prices of 104 percent CAP Clean!
The Ford Credit Land Rover auction certainly impressed the finance arm’s Colin Normoyle. ‘Despite significant increases in CAP in this sector over the past 12 months, all units offered sold on the day.
‘The bidding for stock by both physical and online buyers was at times frantic with demand for stock intensifying as the auction progressed. The result was even more impressive considering CAP’s positioning on a 3-year old Discovery 3 has increased by in excess of £6000 since March 2009.’
Manheim introduced the 4×4 specials in 2002 – and the Rotherham site has established itself as a bit of an SUV specialist, says centre manager Mal Johnson.
‘We attract buyers from Cornwall to Aberdeen because of the great range of product we offer. Demand for 4x4s has been particularly intense following the recent spell of bad weather.’
