4 in 5 recall Toyotas fixed
April 19th, 2010 by Richard Aucock
TOYOTA is 80 percent through its 180,000-car recall programme 8 weeks after initiation.
The maker has praised ‘unstinting efforts’ by its dealers and service centres to process so many cars so quickly.
‘Owners have been able to have their vehicles fixed at their convenience, with minimum delay,’ said a spokesman. Now, car dealers will continue efforts to complete the big recall programme – and then, adds the brand, start looking forward.
Despite the recall, year-to-date sales are 7 percent up on 2009, and March’s total of 18k cars was more than 15 percent up on the year before. This is giving dealers confidence that the brand’s reputation has not suffered.
‘Toyota’s positive sales momentum is set to continue,’ added the firm, because of the ‘ground breaking’ offer choice of either a 5 year warranty or 3 year’s free servicing.
‘Under the banner ‘your choice, our promise’, it delivers perfect peace mind for motorists when making their new car purchase decision.’
Toyota dealers, let us know how things are for you following the early-year dramatics of the recall crisis.
