ATA dealer landmark

ALFA Romeo car dealer technician Sean Davidson has become the 15,000th ATA-approved technician.
The Palmers Hemel Hempsted man won £200 and a bottle of champagne for his achievement – along with his prized ATA membership card.
The IMI governs the ATA scheme, which was launched at the British Motor Show last year. Its communications head, Nigel Beaven, said the scheme showed the value of national recognition for technicians’ competence.
‘It is valued by businesses and technicians alike and, through ATA, both are playing their part in raising standards to improve public perceptions of our sector.’
Andy Rowe is training director of the Fiat Group Automobiles Unetversity. He said ‘ATA is helping us reach our goals, and we are delighted to be part of the scheme.’
More than 450 accredited technicians have emerged from the Unetversity so far; it thus says the ATA scheme has become ‘a vital step’ in the development of its technicians.
The scheme is not short on public recognition either, reckons the IMI. Since being launched a year ago, the ‘You know you’re OK with ATA‘ message has achieved a circulation of more than 30 million .
